Undisclosed location, Kovu's lab

Akuma walked into the lab.
"OK, we've got a limited window, where the hell's Kovu?"

"I'm right....here...."
Kovu appeared out of the shadows. Without the sun hat and robe, he looked far less menacing. He was wearing a sleeveless Gi.
"You...brought...a...test....subject? For....the....transfer....of....course."

"Why do you talk like that? Never mind...Yeah."
Akuma grinned.
"What if this works?"

"Then...we...use...it...to...help...those...who...need it."
Kovu smiled.
"My....curse...is....another's....blessing...."
He glance over at the largeish black rock in the middle of the room.
"Stupid....rock...why'd....I....touch...it?"

"Better question: Why'd you build an ultra high-tech lab around it?"
Akuma looked around. The place seemed to get bigger every time he showed up. Nobody knew about it except him and Kovu, and he was damn sure nobody would want to find it, unless they wanted to be a dried out husk.
"So, what would happen if I touched the rock?"

An annoyed look crossed Kovu's face.
"You'd...die."
Kovu thought for a minute.
"Again."

"And I suppose Pien wouldn't be able to help someone trapped in a rock casing?"
Akuma thought.
"Why aren't you dead?"

Gaara was behind Akuma, looking around the room with his usual blank stare. The room felt strange, but he passed it off as his mind knowing there was a chance it might be his death bed. His last view of the world would be in a cold, dark laboratory. 'You're not really going to do this.. are you? Yes, and you have no other choice but to oblige. Idiotic.. Maybe, but at least if I survive I won't be psychotic like you, and if I don't, I'll be free.'

"OK, let's see...What do we have to do first?"
Akuma grinned.

"We....have to....get....the....object....."
He pulled out the teakettle.
"Tah....Dah..."

Gaara looked around Akuma, staring at Kovu. He looked at the teakettle, then blinked and looked around the room again.

"This...is...the...container..."
Kovu grinned.
"Shukaku....will...fit...nicely...don't....you....agree?"
He let out a cackling laugh.

Akuma looked at Garra, then at Kovu.
"Shukaku wouldn't be able to fit in Suna, don't even mention the tea kettle."
Akuma grinned.
"I honestly think that raccoon blob could lose A LOT of weight. But let's not get into that."

'And now they're mocking me.. just kill them already, it'll be a lot more fun!! Just shut up already, it'll be a lot less annoying.' Gaara looked up at Akuma, his face blank. "It wouldn't matter now.."

"I mean honestly..."
Akuma shrugged.
"Alright, let's hook this up."

Kovu looked at Gaara.
"This...will....hurt...quite...a...bit. Are you....sure...you...want...to...do...this?"
Kovu handed the kettle to Akuma.

"If I need to go through excruciating pain to live without a demon and be better for my village and those who are still there for me, then I will." He nodded once, as if agreeing with himself. Though, he still wasn't sure how he was even able to converse with them, considering they were from an organization that was known to kill hosts for their demons. "It wouldn't change much if I did not survive, though. So it seems to be the best way, for me at least."

"Hook...me...up..."
Kovu waited for Akuma to attach all of the necessary equipment.

"Let's do this then."
Akuma grabbed a bunch of various machines and dragged them over to Gaara and Kovu. He started hooking up various monitors and devices to both of them.
"EKG set. 20 over 40. It's good. Everything is falling under normal parameters. No abnormal spikes in brain activity, heart rate or chakra."
Akuma grinned.
"We're good to go. Just let me set up the cameras."

"Double...check...everything.There....must....be...absolutely...no....variable.... overlooked."
Kovu stared at Gaara.
"No...going....all...One-tailed....on...us...now..."

"Gaara, I'm going to give you a shot to suppress your chakra output."
Akuma grabbed a needle and filled it with an orange liquid. He pinged it twice and ejected some of the contents onto a towel. He checked the dosage and walked over to Gaara.
"After this, there's no going back. Are you positively sure you want to do this?"

"Yes, I'm sure." Staring at the needle, he gave a slight nod, holding back a sigh. Then, he turned his head and looked to Kovu. He didn't exactly have anything to say, so he looked to the floor.

Akuma motioned to Kovu.
"Let's get started."
He stuck the neddle in Gaara's arm and pushed in the plunger.
"Try to ignore the numbness."

Wincing slightly, he nodded once, ignoring the numbness that slowly crept through his arm. He stayed silent, glad that Shukaku did, too. At least, if only for a few seconds.
