Kani and Gaara's.. Hospital Room.. Thing

"That's not why I think somethings wrong.." He looked back to her, the concerned expression still on his face. "I think somethings wrong because I felt a strange feeling by the way you suddenly started acting, like the biting of your lip and the way you assumed I was thinking like everyone else."

Kani stared at him and slowly stood up.

"Nothing is wrong Gaara, I'm serious. Why would I lie to you?"

He stood up as well. His concerned face suddenly became one of sorrow and he looked down. "Your right.. I'm sorry.."

Kani looked at him and her eyes showed remorse.

"Gaara...I didn't mean it like that...I just dont like being pressed for answers. I didn't really mean it..."

He gave a sad smile, staring at the floor. "I was persisting.. I'm sorry.. I'm merely concerned for your well being.. it will not happen again."

Kani stared at him.

"Don't be sad Gaara," she said quietly. "You're only doing what anyone else would do, but I replied harsher then need be."

She smiled grimly.

"And I'm sorry for that."

"But I should know not to persist when I've been given an answer, no matter what it is." he looked up at her. "Don't be sorry.."

Kani laughed.

"Gaara, Gaara, Gaara." She sighed and shook her head. "It doesn't matter, we're both sorry and let's leave it at that."

We always end up arguing over who's sorry...It's how a lot of out conversations end up, although it usually works itself out. You really love him, dont you? It's taken you this long to figure that out?

He nodded. "That seems to be the best option."

He turned his head, looking behind him briefly, then looked back to Kani.

Kani looked over his shoulder, and seeing nothing, looked back at him.

"What were you looking at?" she asked.

"Hm?" He did it once again, looking back to her. "Oh.. just hearing things, I suppose.."

Kani stared at him for a moment, thinking.

That's not possible...

She sighed and placed a hand to her head.

No, no, no. I shouldn't even be thinking like that.

She put her hand down and crossed her arms.

He stared at her, tempted to ask her what was wrong, but knew he probably shouldn't. He turned his head, staring down the hallway behind him through the corner of his eye.

Kani stared down the hallway, wondering what kind of voice Gaara thought he had heard. As soon as the idea came to mind, she shoved it away. She looked at the floor, focusing on a smudge of black on the floor, trying to forget where she was. Hospitals still terrified her, but not a much as they had in the beginning.

He frowned, continuing to stare down the hall. "Hmm.."

"What's wrong?" she asked, raising her head. "Do you hear something?"

"It's bugging me.." He said, nodding as he kept his staring down the hall, as if something were to suddenly pop out of nowhere. "It feels close.. yet inaudible.."

Kani raised an eyebrow, but she was getting more nervous by the second.

"What's inaudible?" she asked. "What seems close."

"I'm not exactly sure.." He turned his head and stared at her. "Do you hear it..?"

Kani looked at him and shook her head.

"Just the noise from downstairs," she said slowly.

What is he talking about? I don't hear anything. Are you asking me? Cause I only know things you do. Oh be quiet. I wasn't asking you anything.

"It's not that.." He replied, turning his head again. "This is.. somewhat different.."

"What do you mean different?" she asked, taking a step toward him.

"I'm not sure.." He shook his head, looking back to Kani and staring at her.

Kani tapped her fingers on her arms in agitation. What was Gaara hearing, what did he mean by different?

"I.. can't place where exactly it's coming from.. but everytime I look down the hall and things go silent, I hear it.." He said, his brows furrowing as he tried to understand what it was. "It's almost like.. some sort of voice. It sounds like it's got a bit of an echo to it.."
